Apparently Jesus Jokes Aren’t Funny

Plastic surgery victim Kathy Griffin’s awards acceptance speech are going to be struck from the Emmy’s.

Griffin was awarded best reality program for her show, “Life on the D-List” and gave a speech that got the Catholic League up in arms.

Kathy Griffin

Her speech contained the following joke, which apparently was judges unfunny and not politically correct.

“A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus,” an exultant Griffin said, holding up her statuette. “Suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now.”

Was it unfunny, wrong, or both? What do you think?

Personally I think it was the funniest thing to come out of her mouth since… well… ever.

Hell yes it was funny. The question shouldn’t be what WOULD Jesus do? It should be what DID Jesus do? I hate people that stand there for 20 mins thanking God. Shut the hell up, already

It was a joke, although people that don’t like her are going to seize this and run with it.

Puhleese. I am so over these people thanking god jesus for their awards. Do they really think a higher power is focusing their efforts on them? Yes, god / jesus has decided that all of the murder / abuse / war / hunger in the world is truly unimportant today…. because some singer really needs some shiny statuette???? wtf?

WTF? Maybe you should know who you are commenting on – she isn’t a singer. She is a comedian! And, your comment was a JOKE!

    Funny? Nah, kind of tasteless.

But, I don’t think she needs a Fatwah issued because of it.

Damn, yes it was too funny! And it was sarcastically fasicious! I agree that yeah there might be some who would get offended by it, but damnit! She’s a c-o-m-e-d-i-a-n for hell sakes. It’s in her personality to be hilarious.

Really, “unknown”? I know who she is….I paid good money to see her do stand-up in my city. My comment was directed towards the music awards and the majority of award recipients who thank their higher power. It is not typical of a comedian to do this. Having a bad life….oops, I meant day?

WTF. WWJD? I think its hilarious, lighten up people. Laugh a little, people are so full of themselves. Why is it okay to have a bumper sticker says “Man+Women=Marriage?? But speaking your mind coming from K.G. is wrong…you know what this is what she wanted…remember she’s on the “D” list!! Smart thinking!!

Thank who you want to thank. How many times have acceptance speeches turned into political drivel to be consumed and spat back out? It’s Kathy Fucking Griffin for fuck’s sake. Lighten the hell up – I’m a Christian and managed to not get my panties in a bunch over it. It’s possible folks are just jealous because someone on the “D List” got an Emmy. Congrats, Kathy!

    Was it funny?
Kind of- it was certainky honest and amusing.

    Was it offensive?
No! Especially compared to the fact that reality shows can win emmys.
