Fox News host John Gibson mocks Heath Ledger

John Gibson

Fox News host John Gibson isn’t making any friends with his show yesterday. Apparently, he opened the show with funeral music and mocked the death of Heath Ledger, calling him a “weirdo” with a “serious drug problem.”

He played a Brokeback Mountain quote, “I wish I knew how to quit you” and quipped, “Well, he found how to quit you.” Laughing, he then played another quote from the movie where Heath said, “We’re dead.” He then said, “We’re dead” and played the clip again.

Throughout the course of the entire show, the host continued to bring up Heath’s death while discussing current events. He even joked that the current events are what may have caused him to commit suicide.

On yesterday’s drop in the stock market:

GIBSON: Maybe he had a serious position in the market.

TOM SULLIVAN: And possibly today, he looked at the window and said…

GIBSON: “Oh my God.”

SULLIVAN: His name’s not Keith Bledger, right?

GIBSON: He was depressed about yesterday’s downturn in the world stock markets.

On the Democratic debate in South Carolina:

GIBSON: Apparently Heath Ledger was suicidal and his friends saw it coming. I think he watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night. I think he was an Edwards guy, cause he saw his Edwards guy was just completely irrelevant.

This is just heinous and reeks of a total lack of class. Shame on you, John Gibson. A man is dead and you’re cracking jokes.

Feel free to email this clown at john.gibson@foxnews.com to let him know your thoughts on what he had to say about the passing of a great actor. I hope they pull him off of the air.
