Chad Kroeger convicted of drunk driving

Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger has been convicted of drunk driving. He was arrested on June 22, 2006 in British Columbia, Canada after he was stopped by police for speeding. He was then charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of driving under the influence in November of last year, after attempting to have the charges dismissed by accusing the police of illegally obtaining breath samples prior to his arrest.

His attorney argued that an officer conducted an unlawful search of Chad’s Ferrari after smelling alcohol on him. A judge threw out that claim last month and he is set to be sentenced on May 1st.

He faces a $600 fine and a one-year driving ban.
