Both sides claim victory in Rob Lowe case

In an interesting turn of events, the judge in the Rob Lowe/Nanny sexual harrassment case, both sides are claiming victory, for now.
For Gibson, the judge ruled that Lowe could not pursue his defamation claims against her because the 24-year-old former nanny is protected under laws allowing people to protest alleged workplace conditions. Three other claims also were tossed.
But for Lowe’s side the judge threw out Gibson’s claim that the actor retaliated against her. Previously, the judge dismissed two of Gibson’s other claims against Lowe.

Joe Francis files lawsuit against his former accountant

Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis has filed a lawsuit against his former accountant, accusing him of mishandling company tax reports.
Francis alleges his former CPA messed up his firm Mantra Films, Inc’s books. He claims that the accountant, Michael Barrett, failed to alert him to tax issues and alledges he breached a duty of loyalty by not doing so.
Francis also claims that Barrett was desperate to claim a $10 million reward from the IRS, despite being responsive for preparing, filing, and signing tax returns.
He’s seeking an unspecified amount in damages.

After setting the record for arrests in such a short amount of time, it’s baffling to me that DMX pleaded not guilty to charges of identity theft. He was charged on Tuesday for using a false identity to avoid $7,500 in medical expenses.

An arrest warrant that was put out for Pete Doherty has been withdrawn just a few hours after it was issued. The warrant was put out for his arrest over missed court appearances.
Petey was due in court on Thursday, but failed to show up to enter his plea in the case where he attacked a photographer last year.
The magistrate assumed he had the correct address for the “former” druggie and issued the warrant for his arrest. However, following an intervention from Pete’s lawyers, the judge withdrew the warrant.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have reached a settlement in their custody case.
K-Fed gets to keep sole and legal custody of their sons, with Britney getting increased visitation over time. And all parties agreed to that? I’m amazed, I thought she got her crap together and was fighting for at least joint custody.
They’re preparing to present the settlement terms to the Commish.

We’re not exactly sure why Denise Richards requested an emergency hearing to get her children, Sam and Lola, away from their father, Charlie Sheen.
She said that there were serious issues at his home that need to be evaluated before the children can visit.
Charlie’s attorney seems to think that Denise is trying to drum up press to boost her reality show.

John Cusack is suing movie production company over his role in the unfinished movie, Stopping Power. He filed the lawsuit in court yesterday, claiming that Intermedia Film Equities USA offered him $4.5 million for the film even if it wasn’t done.
He also claims that all of his expenses were to be paid, including $50,000 for his staff in Germany.
He’s suing for $5.6 million in compensation.

The court appointed psychiatrist Stephen Herman testified yesterday that Christie Brinkley needs therapy for her choices in men and also said that Peter Cook is a narcisist and egotist.
Herman’s report took both parents to task – Brinkley for her lingering fury over Cook’s betrayal and Cook for being a narcissist with sexual issues.
After interviewing the couple and the kids, Herman concluded that Brinkley should get custody because Cook has displayed “poor judgment.”

A-Rod’s wife Cynthia is expected to file for divorce tomorrow. She is blaming Madonna for her marriage going to the crapper, saying that their relationship was the last straw.
Some have even claimed that Cynthia was seen “visiting” Lenny Kravitz.
Madonna has denied any involvement with Alex and has said that she is not divorcing Guy Ritchie.
